Design Inspiration  
While stirrups have long served the practical purpose of securing a rider's stance, their shapes have varied greatly across eras, fashions, and cultures. This silk scarf design by Virginie Jamin reflects precisely this diversity. Inspired by Émile Hermès' extensive collection of stirrups, the designer selected several pieces from the archive to form the composition. In the upper left corner is depicted an 18th-century Chinese bronze stirrup, its sides adorned with dragon motifs. Opposite to it lies a 19th-century Brazilian stirrup, embellished with five-pointed stars and stylized floral patterns.
